Who are these people?

So far this summer we have hosted a fair amount of guests at the volunteer house. These are rare groups of people who migrate to the Honduran jungle once a year with the purpose of self-less giving. We call these people "groups".
We can't even begin to describe how rare these groups are. First they leave their homes very early in the morning and get on a plane with other random people. Many times they have to take multiple planes to arrive in a third world country they have never been in.

After the whole "customs extravaganza" they get in an old-no A/C-cramped-sketchy van for three to four hours. And when they arrive to La Ceiba, they see the first familiar face when one of our staff picks them up in a big white truck. Once they climb to the back of this truck with all their luggage, they stand for about an hour and a half through the potholes, curves and dust heading up the dirt road to Urraco.

Finally, they arrive in Urraco. After a crazy day of traveling, they settle in and find out the shower they were so anxiously awaiting for is colder than a Minnesota lake in the middle of January!
You'd think the rest of the week would be a piece of cake after a day like that... but it's not really, since they work all day in the heat and humidity of rural Honduras.

These people are so rare because after all this, after being pulled right out of their comforts, and after being apart from their families and friends, they still give it their all. They work hard, they play hard and they love hard.

We are so incredibly thankful to every person who has sacrificed their time and effort. Our summer of groups is not over yet, but we have accomplished so much in this short period of time. We can't stop thanking everyone who stepped out in faith to travel to an unknown village like ours to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Thanks for your hard work, for your great attitudes and for loving everyone you meet.
