Making Honduras Our Home

Time feels funny here in Honduras; sometimes it feels like it can't go fast enough but sometimes we look back and wonder where the time went. We've been living in Honduras almost three months now and the adaptation phase is finally over. We finally feel comfortable in our new home and feel like we've found our nitch in the ministry.
Kelvin feels confortable being a part of the agritultural and developmental areas of the ministry. His typical day begins at 7 am looking for David (Jason's Honduran half) who has an array of projects for each day. Anything from vaccinating cows to planting trees and mixing cement for construction projects, Kelvin loves to learn new ways to contribute to the ministry with his gifts. As far as Monica, she has taken an interest on the educational and church development part of the ministry. Her and the another volunteer, Erin, are in charge of library time, tutoring the children in the property and develop English lessons for the public school; which will start English classes next Monday. Also, they are involved in planning out  and coordinating the Friday night church services.

Other than finding where we can be the most productive, we have made this area of the world home by building relationships with the locals, improving the volunteer house, and even getting a monkey pet. To the left is our  Kinkajou aka Mico de Noche, her name is Lola. She is not really a monkey, but the closest description is a mix between a squirrel and a monkey or some kind of big rodent.
Also, building a strong volunteer team for the ministry has helped us feel more at home. We have become close to the other volunteers, Erin & Brayden who will be here for a year as well.We feel the four of us plus Sarah, Jason and David are on the same page on where we want the direction of the ministry to be. 

We are so blessed God has given us a new family and we are very excited about the next nine months of our time here in Honduras.
